Total Housing Start in January Were below Expectations; However, start in November and December were revised up.
The third graph shows the month-to-month comparison for total starts between 2024 (Blue) and 2025 (ed).
Total Start Were Down 0.7% in January Compared to January 2024. There were significant regional differences in January With Starts in the Northeast Region Down Sharply Year-Over-Year (Likely Weather Related).
Single Family Starts have been up year-Over-Year in 14 of the last 19 months, where multi-family has been up year-over-year in only 4 or Last 20 months.
