Nov. 1 is as good a day as any to launch a new Web site, especially if you’re an unemployed journalist with no prospects on the horizon. The recession and technology have conspired to purge newsrooms across the state of untold talent, so my story is hardly unique, and the question for journalists everywhere is simply this: What’s next?
This Web site is one answer to that daunting question. It is born of equal parts inspiration and desperation. I know from experience the subject matter will be of great reader interest across the state. I also know that a pittance of Google-supplied Web ads won’t come close to paying the bills. You and I, dear readers, will travel this path together, for it’s an open question whether this site is sustainable, much less potentially profitable down the road.
In the meantime, my goal is to provide aggregated news from around the state along with a cross-section of opinions about what it all means.
