Members of the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department maintain that the medical marijuana collectives in Siskiyou County are operating illegally and they want them shut down, according to this Siskiyou Daily News article. This mirrors the stance taken by district attorneys in Los Angeles and San Diego, and it follows a flood of dispensary bans enacted across the state.
The Daily News reports that Detective Darrel Lemos and Capt. John Villani of the Sheriff’s Department attended a Dunsmuir City Council meeting Nov. 10 to participate in the public hearing on a proposed ordinance that would regulate medical marijuana establishments. On Oct. 27, council members voted to impose a 45-day moratorium on business licenses for marijuana dispensaries. That same strategy is also being used widely by city and county governments statewide.
